Late Or Delayed Marriages Who's To Blame (dtruth)

That was the topic of we had in my church recently at the singles interactive and it was explosive. The audience was divided into different sitting groups based on what they believe was the answer. Group (A) believes the gods(i.e economy and circumstances beyond mans control), are to be blamed and not the man or the woman, Group (B) believes men are to be blamed, Group (C) believes both men and women are responsible, Group (D) believes women are responsible. Others believed every individual is responsible for the state their relationships. Some of us believe the matter is not as simply as that. So what do you think? For group (A), they are like the economy and circumstances beyond man is responsible, in that in the absence of a good job, etc., its not wise to take on the added responsibility of marriage and children. On the other hand, Group...

One Battle Over Yet The War Rages On (blessings2you)

The last month has been one of the most difficult of my adult life. Yesterday, at least one aspect mercifully came to an end. Our dog Peggy finally succumbed to her renal failure and passed on to wherever dog's souls go after death. To say the last few months were not a strain would be a lie. The daily agony of watching a loved one get worse and worse each day brought me back to the exact same scenario with my mom in 2006. It is one thing to hear of someone who is dying from afar. It is quite another to be their caregiver and witness their losing battle day by day. In the last ten years I have been the "official" care giver for my dad before he died, my mom for about five years up until she died and now six dogs. Each situation has brought its...

Thoughts On A Blustery Winter-Like Night (kreynolds)

The cold front slammed into our town just as my husband and I arrived at church. We knew it was coming so we were prepared for the onslaught. Snowflakes filled the air and my husband started to rehearse his "It's too cold here and I can't help it if you have anti-freeze instead of blood in your veins, we're moving" speech. I've heard it every year since we moved back to my native state of Minnesota over 25 years ago. We're still here. I think he's afraid I'd melt The ground is too warm for snow to stick. Although it's 39 degrees right now, we're getting wind gusts of up to 45 mph. My cat insisted on trying to go out this afternoon. The moment I opened the door, he bolted back towards the fireplace. I joined him and curled up by the fire for a few hours. The...

Our Great And Invisible God (youaregolden)

Vincent Van Gogh And now, when each one of us returns to everyday life, to everyday duties, let us not forget that things are not what they seem to be, that God is using the things of everyday life to instruct us in higher things, that our life is a pilgrimage and we are strangers on this earth, but also that we have a God, a Father, who offers selter and protection to strangers. These past three weeks to a month have been really hard for me. I keep getting back on my feet with God and then get pushed down again, leaving me worse off then before. I have been struggling to read my Bible, and struggling to have fellowship here on CB. I just had no desire to. And that was weird for me. My spirit knew something was wrong, but I just was ignoring the little tug...

My Experience At Hillsong London (jleland2689)

So, as you may know, I'm currently on a trip abroad in London with Harding University and tonight I went to something that really gave me this unexplainable, amazing boost of energy and enthusiasim for Christ. On our way to church this morning I noticed this chruch service called Hillsong at one of the theatres near the tube stop that we use and I saw that they had a service at 5pm. So I thought to myself, since I won't be back from church and grocery shopping til at least 2 that I'll go to the one at five. Probably the best decision that I've made on my trip so far. The experince was sooo amazing!! I really can't fully describe to you the energy that was flowing through the place. I mean, try to imagine it, a few thousand people jumping around, singing, shouting and just giving their all...

What A Sunday School Class Wants In A Government Leader (tn1956)

In our class today we had a question come up about our government officials. This is a class made up of ages between 52 to 65 years old. Some are still employed and others are retired. We all live in the western part of Tennessee. The question was "what do you consider important points of view for the leader of our nation?" The answers were as follows: 1) against abortion 2) against homosexuality 3) one that comes across as patriotic 4) one that believes in smaller government 5) one that does not want to financially help countries that are anti-American 6) one that appreciates the freedom we have in the US 7) one that tries to interpet the US Constitution the way our fore fathers meant it to be 8) one that believes in the quote "In God we trust" One thing that was interesting was that none mentioned the...

Are You Happy Or Full Of Joy? A Simple Test To Find Out. (blessings2you)

Take a moment and see how you respond to these five questions regarding a hypothetical series of events: WHAT IF: You woke up tomorrow morning and went to your computer only to find out the internet had crashed and there was no longer any way to "get online"? Would you; 1. Immediately call Al Gore and ask him to please invent another one. 2. Compose a message describing the end of "life as we knew it" to be submitted later. 3. Resort to the next best media which is the television for vital information. 4. Praise God . WHAT IF: After finding out the internet was no more, you quickly find out all the satellites have crashed and there is no television available. What would you do? 1. Frantically look through the attic searching for the "rabbit ears" grandpa used to use. 2. Pull out the old VCR and watch...
